WestmountMag.ca will launch on May 7, 2015. An official inauguration event is being planned for later that month. Readers will be able to access WestmountMag.ca on the Internet from any digital platform.
On May 7, 2015, Visionnaires Inc. will launch WestmountMag.ca, a bilingual cosmopolitan “New Urban Lifestyle” online magazine accessible from any digital platform, desktop, tablet or phone. WestmountMag.ca will target Montreal Westmounters and residents from the neighbouring communities of NDG, Hampstead, Côte-Saint-Luc, Snowdon, Verdun, Nuns Island, South-Central and Greater Montreal. The publication will offer useful or entertaining lifestyle and human interest articles, an extensive listing of merchants and service providers as well as a calendar of various community activities, listed in selectable categories.
Co-founder Andrew Burlone comments, “WestmountMag.ca began with the desire to assist Westmount merchants in promoting their businesses. With a slow economy and intense online competition, many Westmount businesses are facing hard times and some are closing shop. The City of Westmount and merchant associations have attempted to promote the local businesses but with limited success. Our research has shown that many Westmount merchants have little or no visibility on the Internet. Their websites are often outdated, not maintained, non-responsive or simply non-existent and merchants have little time and experience to attend to their own promotional needs.”
Andrew continues, “We thought a turn-key solution would be the best solution for them and with further thought we came up with the idea of WestmountMag.ca. The goal is to get residents of Westmount and neighbouring communities acquainted with local merchants and service providers, therefore boosting the local economy. To appeal to this urbane audience, the publication will offer entertaining and informative articles that will draw traffic to the website, enticing visitors to check the extensive directory of merchants and service providers. We feel with the progress of technology and personal devices such as the tablet, more and more Westmounters are getting their information digitally.”
Ed Coburn reported in an article in Mequoda published in May 2014 that with the advent of the tablet, digital magazines are here to stay and are getting stronger. PriceWaterhouseCoopers has predicted consumer spending on digital magazines will exceed $80.2B by 2016!
Patrica Dumais, co-founder of Westmountmag.ca states, “Demographically, target audiences include young and single adults, families and active seniors. In short, there will be something for everyone in the community. To appeal to this urbane and affluent audience, the publication will offer entertaining and informative articles that will draw traffic to the website, enticing visitors to check our extensive directory of merchants and service providers.”
Westmountmag.ca will be launching online on Thursday, May 7th. Westmounters and Montrealers can access the magazine online at WestmountMag.ca and visit it regularly for article updates and community events.
WestmountMag.ca is the brainchild of Andrew Burlone and Patricia Dumais of Visionnaires, a branding design company in Westmount, Quebec, one of Canada’s most affluent municipalities, just west of downtown Montreal.
