“Being selected as a guest speaker for Sharon Frame’s annual ‘LeadHERship Cruise’ is an honor that I take very seriously. I get to help educate business owners and thought leaders about what is working in Authority Marketing and help position them as the go to person in their industry. To be able to impact entrepreneurs with new skills is very exciting!” said Hanes during a recent interview.
Sharon Frame’s LeadHERship Empowerment Cruise is an annual event hosted by Sharon Frame for her friends and clients. Despite the name, a number of men are regular attendees. The cruise offers fun, interactive business and self-development seminars as well as a get-away for rest and rejuvenation. Sharon Frame and her industry experts teach guests secret strategies on how to be more successful in business and in life. Clients find it hard to believe this seminar at sea can be such an affordable adventure. She encourages participants to take the time to let go and enjoy a fun, relaxing time in paradise. A portion of the proceeds go to designated non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the lives of women.
Hanes explains Authority Marketing as, “… the new search engine optimization. People tend to look for authority in the market place; they look for social proof that the person they are considering is, in fact, the go-to person for what they need. I teach what I call ‘The Authority Wheel’, a systematic way for an entrepreneur, or anyone with a message to stand out from a noisy market and be seen as the expert or thought leader. Have you ever wondered why some business leaders seem to have more credibility than others? The answer is authority.”
When asked how business owners can benefit from Authority Marketing, Hanes continues, “Business owners should not focus on ‘I want you to buy my stuff’. Instead, they should position themselves as educators and advocates for the success of their customers. When you position yourself in this way, it eliminates the inherently confrontational buyer/seller dynamic where each party is trying to extract as much as possible from the other, and replaces it with an interaction that looks more like what happens between a seeker and a trusted adviser. I help create this shift by utilizing a system I call ‘The Authority Wheel’ which includes tools like book publishing, spotlight articles, video and podcasting and major media exposure.”
Dan S. Kennedy, the Godfather of direct marketing, once said, “The simple truth is, if you aren’t deliberately, systematically, methodically — or rapidly and dramatically — establishing yourself as a celebrity, at least to your clientele and target market, you’re asleep at the wheel, ignoring what is fueling the entire economy around you, neglecting development of a measurably valuable asset.”
