Steele Smith III, CEO Of C3 International Inc. Is On A Mission To Help 100 Million Americans

Currently in the US, more than 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain at a cost of around $600 billion a year in medical treatments and lost productivity, according to a report from the Institute of Medicine. Steele Smith III is a pioneer in the area of complimentary and alternative medicines as well as a national advocate for patient access to holistic therapies.

The American Academy of Pain Medicine defines the difference between acute pain and chronic pain as follows: While acute pain is a normal sensation triggered in the nervous system to alert you to possible injury and the need to take care of yourself, chronic pain is different. Chronic pain persists. Pain signals keep firing in the nervous system for weeks, months, even years. There may have been an initial mishap – sprained back, serious infection, or there may be an ongoing cause of pain – arthritis, cancer, ear infection, but some people suffer chronic pain in the absence of any past injury or evidence of body damage. Many chronic pain conditions affect older adults. Common chronic pain complaints include headache, low back pain, cancer pain, arthritis pain, neurogenic pain (pain resulting from damage to the peripheral nerves or to the central nervous system itself).

The mission of Steele Smith III’s company, C3 International Inc., is to alleviate the chronic pain epidemic affecting nearly one third of the American population through natural remedies instead of addictive painkillers being prescribed.  Smith III knows the harsh side effects that come with taking prescription painkillers when he was taking them for a rare disease called Zollinger-Ellison.  He knew there had to be a better avenue for treatment that would eliminate the harsh side effects of opiates. “The mission of C3 International is to provide Americans who suffer from pain the quality of life they deserve and break the shackles of opiate dependence so they can play with their grandkids or enjoy the life they used too,” stated Smith III.

According to data from the American Productivity Audit, chronic pain was directly correlated with lower than normal work production and substantial loss to the tune of over $60 billion. Conditions ranging from back pain, musculoskeletal pain, arthritis and chronic headaches were contributing factors to the production and financial loss.

Smith III’s ongoing compassion for patients suffering from the effects of disease related treatments inspired him to start a collective effort while volunteering with AIDS Project Los Angeles during the height of the HIV crisis in the mid-nineties. Today, he works tirelessly educating the medical community to the incredible realities of natural therapeutics, nationwide.
