Director Jay Weidner and Producer Sharron Rose, a husband and wife team, have both held the premise that the problems of the world cannot be solved by political means but by a spiritual awakening. Their first feature film, The Last Avatar, which debuts in December 2014, is the culmination of their lifetime efforts and teachings. The movie blends mystical, ancient traditions with modern day awareness of our current world situation. “It was my intention to create an initiatory experience through cinema,” says Jay who also wrote the screenplay.
Jay Weidner is a renowned filmmaker, author and scholar. Called by Wired Magazine, an “authority on the hermetic and alchemical traditions and erudite conspiracy hunter.” his body of work offers great insight into the circumstances that have led to the current global crisis. In addition to the many films he has directed for Sacred Mysteries Productions, he is the writer/director of the documentary series on the work of Stanley Kubrick, Kubrick’s Odyssey and Beyond the Infinite. He is also the co-author of The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye – Alchemy and the End of Time, published by Destiny Books.
Jay was featured in the History Channel’s documentary, The Lost Book of Nostradamus and was associate producer and featured in the History Channel’s special, Nostradamus 2012. He was also featured in the documentary, Room 237, and in Jesse Ventura’s, Conspiracy Theory (TruTV). He is the co-author of The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye: Alchemy and the End of Time published by Destiny Books and A Monument to the End of Time. Jay is currently the Director of Original Programming for Gaiam TV.
Producer Sharron Rose is a true renaissance woman. She is a filmmaker, author, performer, and teacher. Emerging from New York’s vital performance art scene, from 1983-1988, with the assistance of a Professional Development Grant from the American Institute of Indian Studies, and a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship, she began extensive research into the art, culture and spiritual traditions of North India. At that time, she became the first American disciple of early Bollywood film star and legendary North Indian Kathak Queen, Sitara Devi whose family brought the art of dance to Bollywood. Through Sitara, Sharron was initiated into a sacred tradition of the ancient feminine yogic arts.
Since that time, she has consistently sought out other remnants of these symbolic teachings in the ancient traditions of Egypt, Tibet, Kabbalah, Shamanism and Gnosticism.
