Phoenix Wedding Vendor, Starz Entertainment, Offers Advice To LGBT Couples Planning Weddings

With the recent U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the law defining marriage as between a man and a woman is unconstitutional, same sex marriage in Arizona is now legal. There has been a rush by many couples in the LGBT community to get marriage licenses and commence with their long awaited legal marriage vows. Many others are taking the opportunity to plan and create the same kind of wonderful celebration you see in any traditional wedding setting. As this has occurred, the phones have started ringing at Starz Entertainment’s Scottsdale office, as well as other wedding vendors around Arizona to inquire if they do “same sex weddings”.

Starz Entertainment, one of the larger wedding DJ companies in Arizona, is well known as a leader in the industry. In a recent interview company owner Jimmy Davenport stated, “While we are pleased that same sex marriage is now legal in Arizona, this presents no change whatsoever in how Starz Entertainment does business. We have always provided the best in quality entertainment services for everyone without judgement or prejudice.. Over the years we have entertained at countless ‘commitment ceremonies’ and ‘celebrations’ for the LGBT community. We maintain a staff of open minded, accepting individuals who will always show respect for everyone and perform at the highest possible professional level. The only change here is the legal definition of marriage which we knew would evolve and change for the better.”

Speaking on the recent court decisions, many celebrities have been asked to give their thoughts. Brad Pitt stated, “It is each American’s constitutional right to marry the person they love, no matter what state they inhabit. No state should decide who can marry and who cannot. Thanks to the tireless work of so many, someday soon this discrimination will end and every American will be able to enjoy their equal right to marriage.”

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has been quoted, saying, “Portia and I have been married for 4 years and they have been the happiest of my life. And in those 4 years, I don’t think we hurt anyone else’s marriage. I asked all of my neighbors and they say they’re fine.”

Perhaps the most comical of all the statements was from Whoopi Goldberg. “Really, darling, it’s a no-brainer. You know, I understand not everybody is for gay marriage. But if you’re not for gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person. That’s what I say,” said the actress and television host.

Getting back to Arizona, Jimmy Davenport of Starz Entertainment urged those seeking to get married to conduct their due diligence when hiring vendors for their upcoming nuptials. “Talk to friends and relatives about vendors they have used, and check third party reviews on sites like WeddingWire.com which also runs a site called GayWeddings.com. This is where you will find vendors like Starz Entertainment who support and provide services for the LGBT community.

Most important, meet with your vendors to make sure you are in agreement about all aspects of your event and get contracts so everyone has a clear understanding of expectations for your celebration. The bottom line is that if you live in the states affected by the recent court decisions, book your date, venue and vendors early as there will certainly be significantly more wedding celebrations happening in this upcoming wedding season.”
