Kitchen Dads Cliff Pelloni is Winner in the Nationwide Create Cooking Challenge

Sponsored by American Public Television (APT) the Create team received video submissions from across the country for its 3rd annual Create Cooking Challenge, with viewers participating from over 80 local public television stations. This highly competitive national contest highlighted both professional and home-based chefs who shared their culinary ability, knowledge, and expertise with viewers via a video that featured their favorite culinary tips, recipes or idea.

“It was an honor to be selected again as one of the contest winners by some of the top chefs in the country. I’ve watch many of these chefs on television and eaten in their restaurants. It’s very satisfying knowing they enjoyed both my video and my cooking” says Pelloni.

The competition was judged by CreateTV staff and a panel of public television chefs: Lidia Bastianich (Lidia’s Kitchen), Sara Moulton (Sara’s Weeknight Meals), Julia Collin Davison and Bridget Lancaster (co-hosts of America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country), Kevin Belton (New Orleans Cooking With Kevin Belton), and Steven Raichlen (Steven Raichlen’s Project Smoke).

Pelloni’s winning video entry this year was Grilled Romaine Salad with Bacon, Blue Cheese and Tomatoes. In 2016 his entry, Grilled Cauliflower Buffalo Bite was selected as a winner. Both videos can be viewed on his Youtube channel – Kitchen Dads Cooking.

“Kitchen Dads is all about teaching people how to have fun in the kitchen while learning how to cook simple, delicious meals which everyone will love. I grew up with a family who loved to eat and loved to cook, and I want to pass on that legacy to my children. Through Kitchen Dads, I am teaching my boys about cooking real food in a fun way. I’m not a professional—I’m just a dad who loves to cook. A Kitchen Dad,” states Pelloni.

Pelloni also recently released his first cookbook – Kitchen Dads The Basics. “It’s was great month, in addition to being selected as a winner in the contest, my first cookbook was released. The Basics is really like two books in one, the first half is all about teaching the basics of cooking and the second half is over 90 of my easy-to-make and delicious recipes. Doesn’t matter if you are a home cook pro or just starting out, there is something in it for everyone,” Pelloni said.
