Dr. Audrey Paul’s book, Concussion: Your Game Plan to Recovery, officially launched on December 19, 2019. Since these honors were bestowed upon Dr. Paul, she has been grateful that she has reached so many people. Her book has quickly reached the International Bestseller List and claimed the #1 spot on the category of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Paul has received an award from The Best-Selling Authors Association, honoring her achievement of being a #1 international best-selling author.

Her book offers ground-breaking treatment plans for concussion patients who need proper care. Dr. Paul was awarded a grant from the American College of Emergency Physicians to dive in and evaluate the current discharge procedure for concussion patients.

Dr. Paul has seen many patients with concussions who suffer for weeks or even months due to dated treatment recommendations. Dr. Paul has personally experienced frustration and confusion when her son was diagnosed with a concussion, and there was no well-defined treatment plan for his recovery.

Throughout her research, she discovered a few things that just didn’t add up. She found that old practices for discharging concussion patients are simply non-beneficial. Patients were being discharged with advice to “take it easy” and “relax, don’t over-exert yourself.” Current research has shown that a passive recovery path is the wrong one. Instead, concussions heal best through an active, targeted recovery path. Concussed patients should gradually begin light exercise as soon as tolerated instead of sleeping in a dark room. Patients who experience dizziness or difficulties with eye tracking can benefit from physical therapy.
