A senior Lewis-Price & Associates, Inc. team member went on the Business Investors Radio Podcast recently to discuss how one of Inc. 5000’s fastest growing privately held companies in the country is breaking the mold of traditional staffing agencies.
Ernest “Stefo” Lehmann joined the program to discuss the Virginia-based staffing agency and provide a hired-employee perspective of working with an HR firm.
With a resume that includes more than 20 years’ experience in international public and media relations, including serving as a UN press secretary in Bosnia-Herzegovina, he is crystal clear on what he wants in his career today, and says that Lewis-Price offers him a perfect solution.
Lehmann said it’s apparent to him that the organization differs from the traditional staffing agency approach by going above and beyond to better understand their clients.
“I don’t even regard Lewis-Price as a staffing agency,” Lehmann said. “I think they take sort of a non-traditional approach. They aim to change the paradigm of how clients augment their workforces,” he said.
According to Lehmann, where a traditional staffing agency might place a temporary employee with a company for a few days or weeks, then focus on collecting their commission, Lewis-Price follows a different strategy.
“Lewis-Price, in my experience, differs from that model in the sense that they really take the time to understand the client,” explained Lehmann. “They take the time to understand the culture of the client, the environment, the priorities, the objectives of the client.”
That approach may have helped Lewis-Price to be named to the Inc. 5000 Most Successful Companies in America for 2019. In fact, the agency experienced a growth rate of more than 80 percent for the previous three years, earning them a spot on the prestigious list.
And that’s an accolade not lost on Lehmann as he broke down the agency’s integration process and outlined how the company’s leaders took the time to understand his background in order to identify an ideal relationship for him and a hosting client. As a result, Lewis-Price paired him with the Defense Department’s largest institution for communications professionals, the Defense Information School near Washington DC—a job Lehmann called “a perfect match.”
And while his expertise lies in international media relations, the staffing firm’s team members also fill positions ranging from administrative assistants to program managers to information technology professionals, and others who, like Lehmann, are well-equipped to advise heavyweight clients like the federal government.
“Lewis-Price obviously prioritizes the needs of the client,” said Lehmann, “but I think what sets them apart is that they also, in equal measure, prioritize the needs of their team members.”
Through his experience with the firm, Lehmann said he’s identified something other people don’t have—a work-life balance, which he called “rare.”
“I have a family with two daughters,” he said. “I want the flexibility to be able to go home, have a regular time schedule, and to spend time with my family, and that is a tangible benefit that Lewis-Price offers that many other staffing companies just don’t provide.”
