Undefeated Threat Basketball Program Elite Team Clinches Win In College Showcase Tournament

A San Fernando Valley Girls Basketball Travel Team, Threat Basketball, went undefeated in their bracket during the College showcase tournament held in three different locations in Orange County on Saturday and Sunday April 27. The team played in Mater Dei High School.

The team is coached by Renard Beavers, founder of the Threat Basketball program. Beavers was pleased by the result and his team’s showing. “It was a huge success,” Beavers says. “Multiple girls on our team were able to get college attention. They are now in contact with colleges and that is the whole reason we do this.”

The girls did not get recruited by chance. The Threat Basketball coaches have close relationships with college coaches. “I contacted coaches before the tournament to ask them to come watch our girls play,” Beavers says. “We actually put a lot of work into this to get girls recruited. It was a great success because there was a lot of hard work that paid off.”

Threat basketball program offers great coaching to young girls from 11-17 who look to become elite ball players and Beavers believes their method is effective. “The fact that we won all our games and that a few girls got recruited or are in contact with colleges shows that we are doing the right thing,” Beavers explains.

The program is opened to young girls and they learn the fundamentals and skills required to play competitive basketball. More information is available online at: http://www.threatbasketball.com.
