Mark Eiland – Business Consultant Can Make Your Business a Valuable Asset

Mark Eiland blends his background and expertise to market a business and he structures the business so that it has true value whenever the owner gets ready to retire or sell the business, for whatever reason.

A native Texan, Mark currently lives in Austin, Texas, along with his wife and two children. Mark has spent most of his professional life working in technology, specifically in the IT field. He worked for major corporations along the way, including Bank of America and IBM. He also worked as a CIO for the State Attorney General’s office.

Mark has extensive experience in working with Merger and Acquisition projects for corporations, as well as owning and selling his own businesses.  He has worked with merger and acquisition projects of various sizes, from small start-ups up to a five billion dollar deal.

Within the last ten years, Mark has also been involved in the online world, including owning an ecommerce business and marketing businesses online. At one time, he owned an ecommerce business selling dog supplements and dog supplies. In recent years, he successfully sold this business.

He has a passion for helping businesses grow their sales and profits, and increase their customers. He’s worked with many companies, marketing them to their local customer base.

According to Mark, “There are a lot of businesses that don’t know how to grow their business through marketing. They throw stuff at it. But they don’t have a strategy.

And so what I’ve been doing is doing pure consulting work with customers to help them put marketing strategies in place or systems, because I have a long background in doing systems work. Marketing is the piece they don’t get and that’s what’s killing their business.”

Mark’s marketing consulting company, Mercury Equity Partners, works with established companies with annual revenues of at least one million dollars. He finds that many of these businesses have an income stream, providing a good income. However, they don’t have any real value when the time comes to retire or sell the company.

The business may have hit a wall in their growth, and they need some resources and strategies for jumpstarting more growth for their company.

Mercury Equity Partners uses marketing and business strategies to turn a low-performing business around into a productive and wealth company, making it very valuable asset and sellable whenever the time comes that the owner decides to do that. Of course, this is a lengthy process, often taking two to three years to accomplish all of this.

Due to the nature of the work and the intensity involved with taking care of them all, Mark works with just a handful of clients. The first challenge they help clients deal with is getting more customers, and increasing sales and profits through marketing.

He finds that a lot of businesses don’t know how to grow their business. He makes sure that they have a systemized process for getting those clients, an almost automated process for getting those clients and increasing their sales and profits. By doing that, it increases the value of their business.

Mark says, “We want to make sure that they have, outside of marketing, other aspects of their business that are as automated and systemized as possible.

Because by doing that, it increases the value of their business in the eyes of any future investor or buyer of the business. Because if someone’s coming in to invest in or buy that business, they want it to be: I can step in and pick it up and run with it from day one. Not, I have to come in and do a lot of repair work to get it to a certain point where it runs by itself.”

In addition, Mark recognizes that, at times, the owner is the business and if the owner leaves, there is no business. He works to set the appropriate systems in place to strategically remove the owner from having to be so intensely involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. This will allow the business to stand on its own feet, making it sellable when the time comes.

When asked what he likes about being a marketing consultant, Mark answered: “Helping people. That’s it. I love just seeing the light bulb come on for them and helping them see that they’re achieving something that they had struggled with before or maybe even had given up hope on achieving.

The assets you build today are substantial things that will generate and continue to generate income for you over a long period of time. At the time you don’t want to do it anymore, those assets are something someone else wants and will pay handsomely for. That is the key to what Mercury Equity Partners works to achieve for our clients.”

Mark’s unique experiences with doing mergers and acquisitions has given him the background to blend with his marketing experiences – making him a priceless resource for companies that are looking to set themselves up for growth and a possible sale.
