Eric Haaranen Shares Private Method of Ranking Websites

Nearly every size business in North America now has a website and more and more small business owners are recognizing the importance of having their website appear at the top of the search engines. In this article, Search Engine Optimization expert Eric Haaranen shares his private method for getting these top rankings.

There is a reason that Google is estimated to be worth $268B and is considered to be the fifth most valuable brand in the world today by Forbes. Google has technology that people trust to deliver accurate search results and as a result of this, it is estimated that 66.9% of all searches begin with Google.

What that means to website owners is simple. They need to be found when people are searching for products and services relevant to what they sell – especially when it comes to local search.

But Google is smart. In an attempt to continually improve the results they show their visitors Google is always changing the way they rank websites. These changes often leave website owners scratching their heads as Google is not often clear about what criteria it uses to rank a website.

In fact, this has become such a challenge that entire market called “search engine optimization” has evolved because of it.  Eric Haaranen, also known as the Honest Marketing Guy, is one such expert.

“The good thing about Google is that they always remain consistent” suggests Haaranen. “Right from Day One they have said that the purpose they exist is to provide the best possible results to their users. However, how they do that is often a mystery to the vast majority fo website owners.”

The challenge that Google faces is that there are a number of people out there trying to game their system. They utilize robots and software to try to manipulate Google’s results.

“Back four or five years ago it was easy to manipulate Google and get high rankings for almost any website”, Haaranen points out “but those days are long gone and even if such tactics still worked, they are only short-term solutions. Not something I wouldn’t want to build a business on.”

When asked what he would suggest the average website owner should do now, Haaranen was blunt. “First and foremost, create great content that your visitors will love. Then go out and buy a few aged domain names and add some content (articles, videos, images, etc.) related to your website and link those new domain names back to the site you’re trying to rank. Because these sites will have authority and relevance – two things that Google is looking for when reviewing backlinks to a site – this is usually enough to give your site a boost in the rankings.”

Haaranen also points out that when it comes to ranking websites nothing is guaranteed to work 100% of the time and this is only one method but he is also confident that this method works consistently when done properly.
