Long time yoga practitioners and nationally certified instructors Abby Thouin and Susanne Scott of Eldersburg, MD have teamed up as co-founders to form PLaY: Peace, Love and Yoga for a Cause. PLaY is a not for profit 501(c)3 organization encouraging physical, mental and emotional wellness to people in need through the practice of yoga, meditation and nutritional healing.
Abby Thouin, who holds a liberal arts degree from the University of Notre Dame, is the creative genius behind PLaY. Thouin is also a 500-RYT, 200-ERYT and a registered and certified ISHTA yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. ISHTA stands for the Integrated Sciences of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda, it was created and founded by Yogiraj, Alan Finger. She teaches vinyasa, hatha, prenatal, meditation, and yoga nidra. She is also a registered Shake Your Soul Teacher, combing yoga, movement and music for a purely “soul-full” experience.
Thouin welcomes any opportunity to share her love for yoga with others. “I really love the personal and introspective side of yoga which draws us inward yet in a classroom setting inspires deep sense of unity through our individual practices, our breath-our unity,” she adds. Every day Thouin deepens her practice and learns more. “I will remain a humble student of yoga forever. Yoga is a personal journey for every practitioner and no two paths are the same. I honor and have the utmost respect for each and every one of my students’ individual journeys.”
Susanne Scott who holds a master’s degree in Science from the University of Maryland is an accomplished businesswoman and Executive Vice-President of a local systems engineering company. Scott teamed with Thouin on this project because she believes passionately in the holistic integration of the Mind, Body and Spirit to create a balanced life, free of limits and full of energy and vitality. That passion inspires Scott to dedicate time to study under the expertise of world renowned Physicians and Authors Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. David Simons; co-founders of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing in Carlsbad, California.
Scott is a Chopra Center for Health and Wellbeing Certified Yoga Instructor and Wellness Coach as well as a Certified Yoga Alliance registered RYT 200 Hatha Yoga Instructor. She is also currently working on her post-master’s certification in Nutrition from the Maryland University of Integrative Health.
“I know that through movement, breathing, proper nutrition, meditation and relaxation anyone and everyone can tap into the unlimited potential of their true spirit,” said Scott. “I believe we are forever students of life, learning and growing to be better for ourselves and our community. And that is really what PLaY is all about.”
